So we decided to open a gym!

The journey started back in late 2023. We had decided to go for it and start looking for locations.

We found a great unit! Good location, size, layout. Two toilets and a nice little kitchen/lounge area. Plenty of parking. Bit expensive but we think we can make it work. We made the decision to go for it.

Got the company founded, the logos made, the website bought, the affiliate name registered, the loans secured, and very nearly placed our main equipment order. Just one or two days before we were about to order nearly £30k worth of weights and machines, the St Helens council got in touch, 5 weeks after submitting, to let us know that our application is going to be denied. Something about ‘loss of employment land’, or some other bureaucratic bullshit. £600 of fees down the drain.

After meeting with a planning consultant, we decided the cost and time that would it would take to fight the decision is simply not worth it.

So we start looking again.

Thankfully all the other back of house work we have been doing won’t have gone completely to waste, however we are back to square one looking for a location.
